William Markey, President
William Markey is the founder and president of Relevant C Business Group (RCBG). He brings 18 years of experience in corporate development, business strategy and M&A in technology and media. Presently, he manages the firm’s team and projects from headquarters in Chicago, and works with clients globally.
Prior to forming RCBG, he was a co-founder of Ucentric Systems, a video server technology acquired by Motorola. Previously he led business development for 3Com’s broadband division including cable and select wireless Palm devices, prior to spin-off. He served in a similar capacity for Motorola, managing strategy and international business development for the cable modem and CMTS group, leading to the acquisition of General Instrument in 1999.
Earlier in his career, Markey was a director at Pacific Telesis for electronic media. This group spun-out AirTouch, a cellular subsidiary, and launched TeleTV, a joint venture to distribute video among RBOCs.
He began his career at Preview Media, later acquired by Travelocity, as field producer of content for the Discovery Channel and other television outlets.
Markey holds a BA Georgetown University, MS Columbia University and MA from Johns Hopkins.
